How To Throw A Party For 2600 People

AwardsBanquet.jpgMost people attend banquets and never give a thought about what it takes to put on large events. This episode of Red Belly Radio, recorded at our 2008 Annual Awards Banquet, is not a recording of the awards presentation but how an event like this comes together.

Things that might seem simple, like sending out a “save the date card,” are actually rather complex. Sure the database is there, but cards have to be printed, returned cards have to be dealt with—you really do want to get it in the hand of the Employee (Some of whom have to be tricked to attend!) —and don’t forget all of the planning! The months of details, days spent getting the acres of tables ready for the thousands of attendees—and don’t forget the flowers! Don’t even get me started on flowers!

Give this episode a listen and think about what effort it takes to get 1300 photos (prom pics) in just more than one hour! Jake, pictured above, gives his impression on Herb.

Does your company hold an annual event that recognizes its Employees? Do you have any ideas how I could win one of those prizes?

For what it's worth Steve, I was one of the lucky 2600 that attended and even more lucky to be honored with the President's Award. Your Team did an incredibly, OUTSTANDING job. I never have been to such an extravagant affair. (This is my third SWA Banquet).

Thank you for all the hard work and tireless hours you and your Team spent planning and executing this celebration. From one of the 2600, I truly appreciated every little detail...especially the flowers!

How about some pictures of the event?

Thanks, but I only wish I could claim that I helped put the event on. Sunny's team really deserves the credit, Employee Communications for the prom pics, and "Blog Boy" Brian Lusk for reminding me about the flowers!

Regarding pictures, my neighbor got to hear a new explicative from me yesterday when I realized the pictures I took are on my home computer. I controlled myself today, when I realized I had left them at home again. Maybe tomorrow! Congrats on the President's Award!

How about those pictures? I posted three that we took at the party...

CSABecky--where did you post them? Did you use a Flickr account? I added two photos--one with the blog post and one on the Red Belly Radio page.
